Intro to XR
-
Have you ever heard of eXtended Reality (XR), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), or the Metaverse recently? Or perhaps you have heard or seen Apple’s incredible AR capabilities through innovative Lidar sensors or Facebook’s concept of AR glasses which are controlled by a wristwatch?
All these new innovations will exist in our exciting digital future. Nearly all well-known tech giants are investing into extended reality in one form or another and this shift towards spatial computing is expected to transform the way we consume and interact with the digital world.
Take part in this self-directed online course and gain an overview of cutting-edge XR technologies. Find out about the technology in situ through our industrial case studies, discover the generic workflow used to develop XR applications, and learn about developing a business case for deployment considerations.
A basic understanding of extended reality and programming is useful but not essential in order to complete this programme.
This course is funded by the Scottish Government through its flagship programme, National Transition Training Funding (NTTF) to support people who currently live in Scotland and who have lost their jobs or who are at risk of redundancy as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19).
As a condition of this grant, we are required to gather certain data to carry out certain identity/eligibility checks for our learners. -
