Solid State Instrument Scientist

Rachel supports the National Facility by delivering academic and industry projects involving X-ray analysis. She has a particular interest in nanoscale computed tomography (NanoCT) and its applications in pharmaceutical analysis. She also provides training and data analysis support to students, while helping to maintain and operate the instruments within the X-ray laboratory. In addition, Rachel serves as CMAC’s departmental Radiation Protection Officer.

With a Master’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh, Rachel graduated in 2022 after spending a year abroad in Austria working with amorphous ice phases and using powder X-Ray diffraction methods to characterise and analyse various polymorphs of ice. Rachel joined CMAC in the Technology and Innovation Centre at Strathclyde University as part of the National Facility team as an X-Ray scientist in 2022.

Steven Scott

Steven Scott is the founder and Creative Director of TwoFifths Design, a brand, website and animation studio in Edinburgh. He works with public sector, research, university and third sector organisations across Scotland, and has been a Squarespace Circle partner since 2018.
