María José Heras Ojea

Physical Analysis Scientist

María José is a Physical Analysis Scientist within the CMAC National Facility, and is responsible for the delivery of academic and industrial projects involving the physico-chemical characterisation and surface analysis of materials in the solid-state.

María José obtained a Masters degree in Chemistry from the University of Barcelona, before completing a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Glasgow. Following this, María José undertook post-doctoral research positions at the University of Manchester and University of Sussex, and worked as a Teaching Associate in the Pure and Applied Chemistry Department at the University of Strathclyde. This allowed her to gain experience in a wide variety of physical techniques, such as AFM, SEM, ToF-SIMS, XRD (powder and single crystal), or HPLC.
