Industry Mentors

All CMAC PhD and post-doctoral researchers benefit from support from internationally leading supervisors, expert industry practitioners and opinion leaders through the established CMAC Industrial Mentor scheme. Mentor groups, aligned with the CMAC Future Manufacturing Research Hub scope, meet regularly to enable industry experts to coach the students in their research. This also provides industrial relevance and context for their work. The meetings are a mixture of virtual and face-to-face, and involve both Tier 1 members and several Tier 2 companies. These mentor meetings have already enabled students to access industrial analytical equipment and have also facilitated placements within the companies, giving students industrial experience. This is a key avenue for the research and learning in CMAC to be transferred into industry and an efficient way for companies to access and influence the ongoing research.
